i really cannot express what this summer was like for braden. he grew as a person, develop special friendship and played his heart in baseball. this summer was filled with excitement, heartache, sportsmanship and pure joy. braden played 1st base for all the tournament and blew us away at his commitment to learn and grow as a baseball player. he focused on the game and his teammates. he cheered his teammates on and showed us what an awesome little boy he is. at one point before our cruise, we told braden that he might have to be to the outfield so they could have Dylan practice at first base and his response was "that's ok, i want to do what's best for the team". wow, we were so happy by his attitude.
at the state tournament in chickamagua, ga, a mother from another team came up to brit and wanted to tell him that "our team had the most sportsmanship of any team they had played that summer, especially the 1st baseman...he would tell all of our players: great hit or you made a great play" . she did not know braden was our son but we were on cloud 9 when we heard this. it made us so proud of him.
one of the highlights of the season was braden's homerun. he has been wanting to hit one over the fence for so long and when it happened it was priceless. all the kids came running out of the dugout to give him hugs and high fives. i will never forget that moment, for as long as i live.
baseball is an amazing sport for young kids. they have to learn how to play as a team, they learn to lose but also have the joy of victory. i am so grateful that braden loves this sport because we have met some of the greatest families that will forever be with us. i am already looking forward to fall ball. let the games begin.....
